The beginning of something sets us up for completion, and the completion of something sets us up for a new beginning. So, here we are at the end of 2021 preparing ourselves to complete 2021 and prepare for 2022. A year-end gives us the opportunity to zoom out and look at the whole year from a bigger picture perspective. At the same time I’d like to point out that if we zoom in, every breath also marks the ending of one experience we will never get back, and every new breath sets us up for new possibilities. With that said, let’s zoom back out and seize the opportunity to actually look at the whole year, and notice what it has brought to us. Reflective questions are a great way to end the year. I invite you to read the questions below and notice what’s the first answer that comes to you:
- If there was one word you would use to describe the year, what would it be?
- What is the biggest gift you have received from 2021?
- What is the biggest learning that the year has brought to you?
- How can you use the wisdom of this year to move forward in your life, and what new resources are you taking into 2022?
- What would you like 2022 to be about for you?
Notice how these answers make you feel. Perhaps grateful for the year? Or at least aware of where you are in your journey of life. Well, the year is not over yet, so my final question to you is how would you like to end the year and what would be the most valuable way to spend the last month? I have been wanting to curate a mini-retreat to close the year, which I am grateful to be doing at Villa Aether to facilitate myself and others to close the year consciously, step into the new year in meditation, and flow into 2022.
Wishing you all a beautiful ending to the year.
