So here we are, it’s the 1st of January 2022 and the start of a new cycle with new experiences, and new lessons. Many people take this as an opportunity to make resolutions, though it’s well-known that most of them don’t make it past the first month. According to Forbes, less than 25% of people stick to their resolutions after 30 days, and only 8% stick it out for the year. Does that mean it’s better not to make a commitment? That would create other issues that stem from escapism, and you wouldn’t have addressed the behavior you are intending to shift. So how do we play to win? We need to understand that those resolutions which intend to ‘fix’ something that’s wrong come from a foundation of judging ourselves, and that doesn’t yield long-term results.
Let’s keep it simple this year. Imagine that you are freeing yourself from needing to please anyone or doing what you ‘should’ do according to society’s rulebook. Free yourself from looking at things as ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, and instead step back and look at your past choices and their consequences. Look back at your routine, your behaviors, your habits, your responses, where you focused your time, and how you felt day-to-day. All these things were fully under your control and they had consequences. See if you are satisfied with the outcome of your choices, or you are inspired to do something different. If you are inspired to do something different, imagine making different choices and notice how the new consequences would feel. If you can imagine the long-term results of your new choices and feel it in your body, then your subconscious mind has registered this idea and your energies are already re-aligning themselves. Pick a maximum of 3 things from this state of mind where you are away from judgment and imagining your new behaviors as a lifestyle rather than a fad. This will give you a greater advantage and we will finally move away from succumbing to old statistics.
Wishing you a beautiful start to 2022 with more awareness and acceptance.
